Olyclass2000.com is now OlympusClassOf2000.com
Ten years in the making, this is now our 5th major revision to the website and hopefully it will be here to stay. We had the foresight of registering olyclass2000.com for 10 years when we first graduated, but at the time when short domain names were all the buzz, we lacked insight to how awkward olyclass2000.com would sound in 10 years. Well, thank goodness our time with olyclass2000.com is up, and with the advent of technology, the widespread growth of the internet, I’m happy to say we’ve moved to new, faster servers, at a fraction of the price we were paying before.
The Collection Plate: Donations?
The bad news is that our 10 year buffer that we had created for financing these services (as well as the generous contributions of classmates to prolong it thus far), have been exhausted and I’m left to dig into my personal coffers to currently maintain it. Though the costs are menial, they would be virtually nil divided amongst our 500+ members, as such I’ve set up an avenue for you if you feel so inclined to make a contribution securely via Paypal. If each member contributed $5, we could maintain our site for 26 years! Donations received will go solely into maintaining the website and any excess allocated for future use.
New Reunion Site
In the meantime I’ve been busy exploring avenues of keeping us interconnected and prepared for our upcoming 10-year anniversary. A popular website, classcreator has been employed by Olympus 1998 and 1999 classes and has been well received. We have established this as our reunion website and will allow each classmember to create their account and keep their information updated. This portion of our web resources will be used to plan, organize, communicate, and sell reunion events and will be available on the “Reunion Website” tab above, or directly at http://reunion.olympusclassof2000.com
Further, the classmate blogs feature which is currently hosted at olyclass2000.com / olympusclassof2000.blogspot.com will remain in tact, however those features have been fully integrated into our website here. In addition to blog updates, class news and other important updates will be posted only here, so please update your bookmarks to this location.
Finally with Facebook being extremely popular among our classmates, we will continue to maintain the class facebook group for additional reminders through social networking. To facilitate access to the group page, we have created an address at http://facebook.olympusclassof2000.com It is also in our navigation above.
I hope this update finds each and every one of you well. As we gather our class together for our ten year reunion, please pass the word along to ‘missing’ classmates to update their profiles on the Reunion site, and do so yourself.
Dan
