After our heavenly two weeks at the cabin, we headed up to Tanners Flat for the Jones Family Reunion!

Lyvia especially likes this campout because all her cousins are there to play with. There were bubbles, big rocks to climb, games, and a sandy volleyball court that ended up being the biggest hit!

Amelia was fighting off a little cold, so she was pretty grumpy. Grammy held and snuggled her a lot, to give mom a break. She also gets extra points for finally getting her to sleep! Thanks Grammy!
Tamra thought ahead and brought this awesome parachute, the kids had a blast trying to keep a few balls from popping off.We played lots of fun games… here is Grammy learning to play “Hearts” with the King of the Game, Paul!

And the infamous stick-pull competition….Jason vs. everyone else, pretty much! He rocked! Even Lyvia tried her hand at the stick-pull with her dad.

Even an obstacle course for the kids…complete with a gold medal at the end.
A few roasted marshmallows to end the evening and some songs/skits around the campfire.
We love the Joneses and had a great time at the reunion!

10 Years Too Long…

August 23rd, 2010 Classmate Blogs No comments

A few weeks ago we were fortunate enough to head down to Sanibel Island in Florida to be with my Dad’s side of the family over my Dad’s 10 year death anniversary. Initially we weren’t going to go because it was a last minute thing and I had already burned through all of my work vacation but when I found myself unemployed I decided we had to be there. My Dad’s side of the family all pretty much live on the east coast so Mike only met them at our wedding and didn’t get to spend any quality time with them. I have always wanted him to get to know my dad through his family and after checking his schedule at work, Mike agreed we couldn’t miss this opportunity. Luckily we had enough skymiles to get us there and five days after booking we were off!

Sanibel Island is an island right outside of Ft. Myers where my grandma who died in 1995 loved to go. It has white sandy beaches and is known for it’s shells and warm weather and I have fond memories there with my Grandma Heim and Dad. We had about 18 people who were able to come and it was such a treat to finally get to spend time with this family who I have missed so much. It was incredibly hot and humid there so we spent most of the time in the pool, on the beach or playing games in the condos but Mike ventured out to golf a few times. We had a blast catching up and getting to know my dad’s siblings on an adult level and all of them adored Mike. I felt so blessed to spend a week remembering my dad and reconnecting with a part of me that has been absent for quite some time.

July 18, 2010 was the 10th anniversary of my dad’s death and for some reason 10 has been really hard. Maybe it’s because I now only knew my dad 5 years longer than he has been gone or because 10 seems so much more permanent than 6. Whatever the reason, it’s been difficult so being in Florida over that day was exactly where I needed to be. We spent the morning jet-skiing and the afternoon decorating shells, eating pizza and writing notes to my dad. That evening we all headed to the beach at low tide where we wrote Joe in the shells and burned the notes we wrote with the hope the smoke would take our words to him. My aunt also brought the cremains of my grandma and we all got the chance to spread her at one of her favorite places. It was an emotional day but it was the perfect way to honor my dad and I am so glad Mike and I got to be a part of it.

Jetskiing with Savannah. Don’t worry that Mike tipped us off on accident, which scared Savannah pretty good. After my dad died my mom gave me a card with stars on it and so they have always reminded me of him. My dad also really wanted a tattoo and would reapply a temporary one every day to make it look real so when I turned 18, I decided to get a star tattoo with his astrological symbol (gemini) in his memory.

Summer has been busy at the Joneses!
Here is part 1 of an update, in pictures!

First off- yes, I was in a motorcycle accident up at the cabin. Blah. But the good ol’ folks in Rexburg got me fixed right up. Two weeks has gone by since the crash and I’m healing up quite nicely. I won’t be a gimp for long! (My mom insisted we take a picture of the wounded!)

Happy Birthday ROBiN!

August 13th, 2010 Classmate Blogs No comments

Our little ROBiN had a birthday!
For the last few months he’s been obsessed with Batman and Robin, but mostly just Robin.
He knew he wanted a Robin party and whenever we talked about his
birthday he would always remind me that he wanted to have a “Wobin” cake.

Heather, Bryan and I decide to go on a little road trip. So we loaded up Heather’s car and we were on our way to Yellowstone.

After Yellowstone we made our way to the Grand Tetons.
This is the very beautiful Jenny Lake by the Tetons. We got there at sunset.
~~~~~~~~
We saw all the sites and the round trip time was about 24 hours. We got a lot of great pictures and we had a lot of fun.
Bring on Spencer’s 30th Birthday Party 2010!
I had a “Rock Star” themed birthday party for Speen’s 30th. We had people come dressed as their favorite rock star/singer, and we ‘rocked‘ the night away!
Yours Truly – Tina Turner and Steve Tyler welcoming the guests!!!
Spencer's favorite food is “breakfast food” so we went with it – we had a fruit and yogurt parfait bar, fruit platter, cinnamon sticks and his mom's famous stuffed french toast and syrup!  YUMMY!
My brother and his wife (fresh off a float down the Weber River) were the “Beach Boys!”
What can I say, if it is going to rain, at least we got a rainbow.  At the last minute we moved everything from the backyard to underneath our covered patio, and I must say it worked out well!
Tina and “Lady Gaga!”
Cindy Lauper!!!
Tina walking down the “red carpet!”
A pregnant “Jamie Lynn Spears!”
Enrique Iglesias, Steve Tyler, and Tim McGraw
Dolly Parton
Billy Idol
Let the Karaoking and Dancing begin!!!
Sir Elton John!
“Girls just wanna have Fun!”
What can I say, We like to Party!
Lance's Birthday!
August 5th, 2010 Classmate Blogs No comments
Lance turned 3 on July 15th, and what a special day we had!!!
The Saturday before his birthday we had Spencer’s family over for a little party, since they were going to be out of town on his birthday.
Here is Kelli and Lorin’s little family and by little I mean 5 kids 6 and under! Wowsers, I can’t imagine that, they are amazing parents!
Here is Lance wearing his special birthday hat!
Lance loved his pink cake decorated with skittles!
Then came his real birthday and the day could not have been better! Lance had been telling everyone the whole week “my birthday is on Thursday, July 15th!” It was too cute.
Spence and I blew up a huge pack of balloons and taped them all over the walls and filled the hallway out of his room, so when he woke up he was surrounded by balloons, he loved it!
He looks so old and handsome, I can’t believe it!
For breakfast I put a candle in his waffles and sang to him. I think my families birthdays are my favorite days of the year!!!
Playing with his new toy!
Next, our friend Jessica invited us over for swimming and fabulous lunch with some of our favorite friends.
Later that night we had my family over for dinner, and then some of our friends came over for a little party!
Here is my dad with Tallie.
My parents gave him this cool soccer net.
Miss Tallie Tootles with my grandma!
Me and my friend Leslie!
Mommy and her big 3 year old!
Our neighbors are pro soccer players, they were showing Lance a thing or two about playing soccer!
And now the pinata! Wow, what a story. I swear every kid took a whack at the pinata and it wouldn’t break. Finally Speen had to take one of his golf clubs and take a full swing to get it down. And the best news – it didn’t even hurt his ribs, wahoo!
Love the cutting of the cake, singing happy birthday, and blowing out the candles, isn’t that the best part of the night?
My parents giving Tallie her first and second and about 20 bites of ice cream! Yes, she did end up throwing it up!
Owen, one of Lance’s friends. I really hope Lance gets potty trained in time for school, so he and Owen can be in the same preschool class.
Tallie literally sat on the grass like this for 30 minutes just totally caught up in all of the attention, plus she kept her party hat on!!!
Opening presents.
Me and my besties!
My love!
And Lance and his buddy Fatau!
Thanks to everyone for their love, support and birthday wishes to Lance!!!
Water Fun!
July 31st, 2010 Classmate Blogs No comments
It is so blazing hot here that if we are out side we HAVE to be in the water so here are a few pictures of what we do for fun with water!
This is our neighbor friend Ebonee. She comes over and holds Wesley a lot and plays with Logan once and awhile. She is a great help, especially when Scott isn’t around. She just LOVES holding Wesley!
My mom was so nice to send us this HUGE (that word is just for Jaclyn and Kaitlyn!) water slide. The kids loved it the first day but then they were scared of it the next time we brought it out. The adults don’t mind it though.
If there isn’t much going on Logan gets to just play with the hose and sprinkler. He loves it!
I think Logan looks pretty COOL here with his sun glasses and water shoes. He is ready to hit the water!
Aaron is 3 years old
July 29th, 2010 Classmate Blogs No comments
Last week Aaron celebrated his 3rd birthday. We had so much fun with it since Aaron really seemed to understand birthdays this year. I think when Kaylee had her birthday in May and I had mine in June, Aaron loved the excitement of birthday cake and presents. He was so excited to eat his birthday cake. That is all he wanted for his birthday. He loves his birthday presents and even today he keeps asking for more birthday presents.
First thing in the morning we surprised Aaron with a tricycle. He still needs to learn how to ride it but he loves to just push it around everywhere. At least Aaron got a chance to play with his tricycle with his daddy before daddy had to leave for work.
This birthday boy is getting so big and he loved his special day. We got to take daddy out to lunch. We went to the park so he could play with his tricycle some more. Then when daddy got home he got to open his presents. He got some clothes and some cars from his new favorite movie “Cars.” His favorite is the truck Mack that can hold the cars inside of him.
Later we had cake and ice cream with some friends and I let Aaron stay up til almost 11 to play with his new toys. This boy did not want to go to bed so I put his toys in his room and told him that he could keep playing with his toys but in his room. He eventually passed out.
These pictures are a couple of days later when Grandma’s birthday present arrived in the mail. Aaron loved getting more clothes and more car toys. This kid loves to line up all his toys and plays with them and sleeps with them. And Grandma, he loves his “Mighty Sleepy Bear” jammies. Since Aaron has taken a huge interest in playing with his toys all day I think it is safe to say that we are on the up side of the terrible two’s and have now entered the terrible threes. :) He is a good kid.
Here is Kaylee at 14 months and walking. She loves to get in all the action but if she dare touches one of Aaron’s car toys or thomas the train toys she had better watch out. We are still working on sharing with these kids but Aaron is not willing to share any of his favorite new toys.
As an update for us:
We successfully moved from our house to our new apartment during the 4th of July weekend. So while everyone else was having parties and fireworks we had a lot of work to do. We like our new apartment and feel that it is still a pretty good size for us with 3 bedrooms/2 full bathrooms and a 2 car garage. We did sacrifice on a yard and on a smaller kitchen but it does have big pantry. I feel like we unpacked fairly quickly and got settled easily with a few set backs. We were having troubles setting up our dryer then it broke. I think we finally have it up and running correctly. Our apartment didn’t come with a microwave and we still have yet to buy one. Surprisingly, I have gone a month without a microwave and I hardly even miss it. There have been a few times when I wished I had a microwave but mostly everything else can be cooked on the stove or the oven. It took over a week to get the internet running and about 2 weeks to get our satellite set up.
I like our new ward but I still don’t really know anybody but hopefully that will change as soon as school starts and people settle down from their busy summer schedules. A part of me feels stranded in the middle of California with no family or friends and this week no husband (he is on a business trip). So it has been hard but I have a feeling that things will get better as I get to know more people and hopefully when I start tutoring when school starts.
Driggs Family Reunion!
July 28th, 2010 Classmate Blogs No comments
A couple weeks ago, we headed up, over, down (? I wasn’t driving?) to Moose Creek – Idaho? Wyoming? I don’t know, one of those places for a family reunion. We had such a fun time. Enjoy a gazillion pics from the trip!
Auntie Em chillin with Lance!
Lance and some cousins enjoying the Teepee
Enjoying the campfire at night
We loved horseshoes, pretty sure I was the reigning champ!
Lance got a kick out of the hoola hoop
Oh man – cousin Michael was SO CUTE to Lance. He played with him in their motor home for literally 30 minutes, letting him honk the horn, and push all the buttons, I think it was by far Lance’s favorite part of the trip!
There were horses
Lots of chatting – here is Lance with Uncle Todd who was so cute to him !
The whole “Driggs” clan – Spencer’s grandpa had 5 sisters and all of their families were there as well – we each had different colored shirts to wear.
Thanks for the awesome family pic Kelli!
Love this pic!
I know I am biased, but seriously I don’t think kids are made as cute as my Tallie!
Hangin in the camper!
We had tons of contests – ok, I am totally getting schooled by Aunt Nat, but at least I tried, right?
How Lance slept at night! Ok, yes, we got to sleep in one of the few cabins. We stuck Tallie in a closet, which worked out really nice.
Lance got a bit car sick on the way up and threw up on his shirt, so he ended up in mommy’s shirt!
On the way home, we stopped at Jackson Hole and had a look around. So much for the “no touching” sign!
Really doc, are you sure Tallie is only in the 12% for her weight!??!!!
This little getaway was just what I needed to feel refreshed!
Guess who's 9 months today…
July 7th, 2010 Classmate Blogs No comments
Are you kidding me? Where has the time gone! I have to admit though, I love this age, it is so fun. I am happy to be out of the super baby stage.
Sorry for the picture overload, but I sold my camera (tear) a few weeks ago, and borrowed my dad’s camera so I could take a few pictures, and got a little carried away.
Man I LOVE this little girl. She is dramatic, full of personality, has spunk, smiles all the times, can switch on and off the tears in a millasecond (it’s amazing!), great sleeper, loves to eat EVERYTHING I am eating or drinking, is trying desperately to get up on her knees, moves everywhere by scooting a little, but mainly rolling like a mad woman. She has the cutest smile, I love her eyes (I think she smiles with her eyes, reminds me of my nana), she has started to wave (it is the cutest thing ever!), says “dad,” and my mom said she mimicked “hi” today. She has two teeth that she got before 8 months, which was nuts because Lance didn’t get any until 11 months, and she loves to put anything and everything in her mouth. In fact, I pulled a sticker off the roof of her mouth last week (oops!) I need to be better about keeping stuff off the carpet!
All I can say is how grateful I am that Tallie is a part of our family, we are lucky to have her!
