Soccer…

February 25th, 2010 Classmate Blogs No comments

Those of you who read this blog often enough have heard me mention a time or two that poor little Nick is scared of everyone and everything. New situations are especially hard for him, and he also has an unexplained fear of adults, especially adult men (which my pediatrician assured me is normal and he should [hopefully] grown out of. Like maybe when he becomes an adult man). So imagine our surprise when his preschool sent home a flier for a 6 week soccer clinic and Nick expressed his desire to sign up! We explained that this would be with people he doesn’t know and the coaches would indeed be grown up men. NICE grown up men, we emphasized. But he still insisted that he wanted to play soccer. Thinking and hoping that we were moving out of one phase and into another, we readily obliged.

Oh, but wait. Lest you think everything runs smoothly, let me assure you that Nick will only participate in class if he has Daddy on “his team.” So yes, he is the oldest and the biggest in the class (besides Brad) and he is also the only one that must be touching his parent the entire time. I think we’re all ready for the clinic to be over. Especially Brad. :)

I guess we’re not quite out of this phase yet. I love this silly little boy!

I can see that now…

February 18th, 2010 Classmate Blogs No comments

I’ve known for quite awhile that my eyesight wasn’t what it once was. So last week I went to the eye doctor. Turns out my eyes aren’t 20/20 anymore….or even close to that! Heather and I went that night and picked out glasses. I think I dig them!
After trying on at least a million I went with these.

The children will learn very valuable things when they spend time with auntie nat

February 16th, 2010 Classmate Blogs No comments

As much as I would love to do an entire post on how fabulous my trip to Mexico was, I’ll spare you. Not because I don’t love to make people hate me, but because a trip recap post is the last thing I want to do. And, probably the last thing you really want to read.

However, I will transcribe two of my favorite conversations that happened while in Mexico in hopes that this will appease my 10 readers.

Hannah (my niece): Natalie, are you going to get married soon?
Me: I don’t know sweetie. I have to find someone to date first.
Hannah: Oh. (seeming very disappointed)
Parker (my nephew): But didn’t you have a date with someone the night before we came here?
Me: Yes I did. But that was only one date. I have to go on lots and lots of dates with one person before I can get married.
Parker: Like 100 dates?
Me: Yes, like 100 dates.
Hannah: Wow, that’s a lot.
Parker: Good luck with that.

Ok, Parker really didn’t say the last line. He’s only 5 and hasn’t quite mastered such quick wit. I’ll do my due diligence as an auntie and teach him how to be a smart ass. He’ll love me so much.

And at dinner:

Me: Jinny, how was your day today?
Jinny: Marvelous. I didn’t do a damn thing.

Like grandmother, like granddaughter.

k. I guess I can post some pictures.

first things first

February 14th, 2010 Classmate Blogs No comments

this past week has been chaotic.  We started out the week with a baby blessing and then ended the week with another baby blessing.  In the middle of all that we picked up Riley's glasses.  They had to clip the back of the ears so they can put the loop backs on and after 2 trips to get them readjusted I think we finally have a good fit.  At first he kept trying to take them off but now they don't seem to bother him.  Maybe that's a good sign that they are actually helping him.    All I've gotta say is that he's pretty much the cutest boy in glasses EVER!

Like I said earlier we had two baby blessings this past week.  Courtney was blessed on Feb. 7 and Makayla was blessed Feb. 14.  Both the girls looked so pretty in their white dresses.

For Shelly…

February 13th, 2010 Classmate Blogs No comments

This was one morning last month. I couldn’t get enough of this hair. He is too much fun. (For those who are particularly observant you will notice Todd’s geographic tongue. What a proud moment for me.)

The same hair just from a little bit different angle. It was glorious.

He also went through this phase about the same time. Lean-over-to-the-side phase. It was pretty funny.

And yet again…

Last but not least, a big cheeser. I think this is the only real smile we’ve ever gotten a picture of and hopefully it isn’t the last. My smile did not come easily as a child and I remember vividly my mother coaching me in anticipation for my school picture every year. I must say he does have the squinty eyes down already, a personal trademark.
I guess I’ll try to go get some sleep.

On Friday Bryan brought these beautiful flowers in to my work on his lunch hour. It was a great way to start Valentine’s weekend. Thanks Bryan I love them, almost as much as I love you.

So today I made Bryan cupcakes for Valentine’s Day. I think he liked them.
Happy Valentine’s Day.

Today I was told, ” You look tired.”

I have no response. Just… blank.

Was this person stating the obvious?
I mean- I’m 8 months pregnant and caring for a home and a two-year old, so yeah, I’m tired.
But not exhausted. Or run-down, haggard or drained.

Just a little tired.

Maybe it’s the glasses I was wearing. Or no mascara. Or maybe just bad lighting.

I guess it’s bedtime for me at 9 pm tonight.

Little Girl Pearl Rose Buds: $5

Little girl flower clips – $5

Little girl larger flower clips $7; Circle clips $5

Adult flower clips and pins: Range from $8-12

Beautiful, comfortable, and stylish headbands – $15

(FYI – in the black tool picture, there is a little piece of gray string on the headband, it is not actually on the headband, just was accidentally on it in the picture and I didn’t notice, sorry!)

Somebody turned 2…

January 30th, 2010 Classmate Blogs No comments

My “baby” may or may not have turned 2 last week. And I may or may not be in denial about it. I finally understand what my mom means when she still tells us “you’ll always be my baby.” As a side note, blogger usually always lets me arrange the order of my pictures without a problem but today it won’t. If this contines to happen, blogger and I are going to have serious issues. Seriously. Anyway, onto my birthday boy:

At least once a day, Chase grabs this dinosaur and chases me around the house with it, roaring at me. It’s adorable…

Chase’s bedtime line-up: light blue blankie that Mara made him, random star blankie that he grew an attachment to, his duck that he got in the ER when he had to get stitches, and his teddy bear. He has to have these when he goes to bed and he has to take them with him when he gets up. He names them one by one until he has all 4.

My baby in a box…

This photo was taken at the end of a long day. I had been trying all day to get pictures of him doing the things he loves to do, and he had had it. He was running from me at this point, hence the fuzziness…

He’s always been great at finding things to entertain himself…

He loves trains…

This is the face I get when I tell him to smile for the camera…

This was taken after his birthday dinner, getting ready for his brownies…

Opening a present. He loves to read and loves the “How Do Dinosaurs…” series.

This is as far as my cake/brownie decorating skills go (but I must admit they tasted really good!)

Chase loves to try on shoes, although my boots present him with a bit more of a challenge…

This crazy boy brings me so much joy. I love how he calles himself “Chasey” and his big brother “Nicky.” I appreciate his sweet temperment and that he is usually happy and friendly. I love the inflection in his voice and the way he sings and sings and sings. Happy Birthday, Chasey boy!

This is Logan and his friend Gabrielle playing with Logan’s fire engine.

As you can see, Gabrielle is a bit of a dare devil..Logan can’t even get up on it to sit down by himself and she is standing on it with no hands!!!

Crazy hair day! He fell asleep with his hair flat and this is how it looked when he woke up! He obviously doesn’t mind, seeing that he is happy as a clam with his arms up!

This is our front yard from the last crazy storm that came through. That puddle went up to Scott’s ankles!

pumpkin carving

January 26th, 2010 Classmate Blogs No comments

We tried to carve pumpkins but stockton almost puked…. so he watched sports with daddy and i did i all by myself ….
Pumpkin cookies were so much more of a success :) Sloane is such a little copycat. I love it! she was either standing on the side or kneeling on the bottom stair (or bawling because she wanted me to hold her up so she could see) the whole time.
Stockton is so proud!
WOW!!!
