Have A Grateful Day

June 23rd, 2010 Classmate Blogs No comments

I just introduced my two little monkeys to the Woopie Cushion, I wish you could hear the laughter in our home right now. Not quite sure if this was a good idea or not, but right now it’s pretty hilarious. Anyways, when we were out driving, the car ahead of us had a sticker that read, “Have a Grateful Day”. It totally changed my point of view for the day! Frankly ALL day long I’ve been dreading the things I had to do, and now I’m just thinking of how grateful I am for all those dreadful things (which truly aren’t dreadful at all) that I get to do. Funny how a change of mind can completely change the outlook of your day.

happy birthday to me…

June 16th, 2010 Classmate Blogs No comments

I have more to blog about my birthday yesterday, including some ravishing pictures, so stay tuned. But for today, as I’ve been reflecting on my 28 years here on earth- this song just kept popping into my head. It’s one of my favorites (especially when my Dad sings it!).

Secret of Life
by James Taylor

The secret of life is enjoying the passage of time
Any fool can do it
There ain’t nothing to it
Nobody knows how we got to
The top of the hill
But since we’re on our way down
We might as well enjoy the ride

The secret of love is in opening up your heart
It’s okay to feel afraid
But don’t let that stand in your way
’cause anyone knows that love is the only road
And since we’re only here for a while
Might as well show some style
Give us a smile

Isn’t it a lovely ride
Sliding down
Gliding down
Try not to try too hard
It’s just a lovely ride

Now the thing about time is that time
Isn’t really real
It’s just your point of view
How does it feel for you
Einstein said he could never understand it all
Planets spinning through space
The smile upon your face
Welcome to the human race

Some kind of lovely ride
I’ll be sliding down
I’ll be gliding down
Try not to try too hard
It’s just a lovely ride

Isn’t it a lovely ride
Sliding down
Gliding down
Try not to try too hard
It’s just a lovely ride

Now the secret of life is enjoying the passage of time

It’s so nice to know we have a super hero living in our house. Even if he does stay up all night, leaves crumbs on the couch, falls asleep in random places, uses the word “way” way more than any other 2 year old we know, ie; way scared, way cold, way wet, way dark, way cool… I think you get the point, when he kisses you he gives the best sound effects of mmmmmwuhhhhhh to emphasize the love in the kiss, has a mad obsession with getting the eggs out of the fridge for no particular reason, loves to go potty, both on the potty and not, will do practically anything for a penny.

We love you Super Cal… no need to grow up too quickly!
