Olympus High School Class of 2000 Alumni Website

Our biggest challenge recently has been transporting Riley. It is becoming increasingly more difficult to take him places. We can not fit his stroller in our car and because he has to lay flat in the back seat I can hardly get him in and out because of his size. We are in great need of new transportation for him that he can ride in his stroller. We are happy to announce a website has been set up for Riley to help fund a van for him.

I have also placed a link to the site in the side bar. If you wish to donate there is a pay pal button on the website. If we could get 1000 people to donate $20 there would be enough for the van and the handicap accessaries. Tell everyone to come aboard and help GET RILEY’S RIDE!

We’re having a girl!

Ultrasound says that she’s looking healthy and strong (I’m feeling those kicks already). She has two excited parents and one thrilled big sister. All the way home from the doctor, Lyvia was telling me about her baby sister and how she’ll push the baby in the stroller. We are way excited for March 24th to hurry up and get here!

In the Pink…

It has been a little interesting, and scary at times, but Samuel is getting used to his “mini me” around.
At first Samuel would often be caught inching his little foot to Eli anticipating to push him away (such as off the bed) but was not successful. In trying to make Eli stop crying he would shove his binki in his face very hard. But over all we are finding balance and Samuel is learning to love his new best friend.

After months and months of waiting and harassment of the insurance company Riley finally got his stroller. It came last monday and Riley just loves it. It is very soft and cozy. I want to take a ride in it! It’s very easy to use and I’m glad that we decided to go with this particular model. For those of you other SMA families reading this we got him the Convaid Cuddle Bug. It has all the bells and whistles. It reclines…It tilts…It lays back…It’s like his own custom made lazy boy recliner! Riley will also be getting a power chair and we are still awaiting the arrival of that. We were very fortunate to receive both, our prayers were truly answered!

New Wheels

As many of you may know we have been trying to get Riley a wheelchair for the past three months and it’s been quite the ordeal to put it lightly. I have not been happy at all with the experience. Yesterday a friend of mine, Tara, who also has an SMA kiddo, gave me the name and number of a case manager through our insurance. It only took one call from her to the wheelchair people and all the stuff was being sent in. she said that she would call me the next day to tell me the status of the paper work. Hopefully the ball can really start rolling now. Thanks Tara for the info! Tara is also lending us the stroller that she recently got because they aren’t using it right now. Once again…Tara you’re awesome! The one last bump in the road is that they are telling us that they will only pay for either the power chair or the stroller but not both. I think it’s ridiculous because all the other kids with the same insurance got both! Dumb they better give us both! It will be really nice for Riley to have this equipment. It will give him much more freedom and the ability to participate in more things. Now just hurray up already!
